Villa Park is a football stadium in Aston, Birmingham, England, with a seating capacity of 42,682. It has been the home of Aston Villa Football Club since 1897. The stadium has gone through various stages of renovation and development, resulting in the current stand configuration of the Holte End, Trinity Road Stand, North Stand and the Doug Ellis Stand.
THE BRIEF
Acoustics Plus was engaged by PEL Services to design a new PA/VA System for this prestigious football club. The existing system was nearing the end of its useful life and a much needed upgrade had been commissioned by Aston Villa FC.
THE DESIGN
Acoustics Plus undertook a match day noise assessment and measurements during a feisty Midlands derby to determine typical crowd noise levels. This determined the selection of loudspeakers and their power handling capability. Using acoustic modelling software, a detailed acoustic design was undertaken using a mixture of Electro Voice EVFs and EVHs to provide a full range solution.
THE RESULT
The Holte End has been fully installed and commissioned and is now providing match day entertainment. It is fully compliant with the relevant legislation and standards. The remaining stands are due to be installed in the near future.
