Seren Park Apartments Greenwich

Seren Park is a large 90-apartment residential development in Greenwich, London.

We were contracted by the property developers to review the building design and provide advice on its sound insulation performance in order to achieve compliance with Approved Document E of the Building Regulations.

The developers also asked us to conduct sound insulation testing under the Association of Noise Consultants’ accredited testing scheme.

The brief

  • Review drawings and construction specifications against performance requirements set out in the Building Regulations
  • Advise on the anticipated sound insulation performance of party floor and party wall constructions
  • Provide advice and recommendations on party floor and wall constructions that should exceed Approved Document E’s requirements
  • Carry out pre-completion sound insulation testing for a variety of floor and wall constructions to determine their resistance to airborne and impact sound.

The results

  • Accredited sound insulation testing for development phases 1-3 completed; the buildings comply with Approved Document E
  • Credits awarded under EcoHomes 2006 for improved sound insulation performance
  • Pre-completion testing for phases 4 and 5 to be performed in the near future.
