Heath House and Heath Park – London

The property developer refurbishing this Grade II listed building wanted to incorporate air conditioning in all rooms. Air handling units require planning permission because of the external noise they emit.

We were contracted by the mechanical engineers responsible for the installation to conduct an acoustic assessment in accordance with local authority planning policy.

The brief

  • Measure background noise over a 24-hour period and assess the noise impact of the proposed air handling unit including all outdoor condenser units
  • Supply an acoustic report detailing the noise survey findings and an assessment of the noise impact in accordance with local authority requirements

The results

  • Planning permission was granted following submission of our acoustic report
  • Noise mitigation measures specified by our team helped to achieve planning permission;  all within the constraints dictated by the nature of the building’s Grade II listing.
  • Based in London we advise on UK and international projects.
