430 Merton Road Wandsworth

We were contracted by the property developers to carry out an acoustic assessment in accordance with the planning policy guidance used by the local authority (PPG24).

This residential block consists of 15 one- and two-bedroom flats and is next to a busy road, so our acoustic design needed to ensure adequate sound reduction within apartments.

The brief

  • Perform acoustic assessment in accordance with planning policy guidance (PPG24 document)
  • Provide detailed acoustic design for the building façade to ensure adequate sound reduction, including walls, windows, window ventilators, and roof.
  • Review drawings and construction specifications to obtain maximum credits for sound insulation under Eco homes 2006

The results

  • Planning permission granted following submission of acoustic report
  • Residential block achieved Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes (Eco homes 2006) helped by noise mitigation measures specified including glazing, window ventilators, and façade construction.
