An increasing number of Local Authorities require an acoustic report to be submitted in order to demonstrate that planning conditions will be met.
Many Local Authorities have adopted a standard noise criteria in addition to Planning Policy Guidance 24 in regard of planning applications. Such criteria are to ensure that amenity to local residents is not lost through the presence of unwanted sound. Acoustics Plus enjoys a good working relationship with many Local Authorities and possesses good knowledge of noise criteria with respect to planning applications.
For planning applications which involve air handling equipment, Acoustics Plus maintains an extensive database of noise specifications on many of the leading manufacturers of air handling units. Utilising this information, acoustic reports to accompany planning applications can be produced in a timely and cost effective manner.
For more complex planning applications, such as new residential property, a more detailed acoustic report may be required.
When a developer proposes to erect a new residential property near an existing noise source such as a busy road or railway line, Local Authorities may require noise monitoring over at least a twenty four hour period. Acoustics Plus has a comprehensive collection of measurement equipment and is able to leave equipment unattended in the field for considerable periods of time.
Where necessary, noise mitigation measures can be specified, whether it is required to improve the sound insulation of a building envelope or to reduce the noise egress from a noisy extraction fan. |
